Dear Fred’s family,

Fred’s Texas Cafe eased open the doors at our Currie St. location on Wednesday, June 24, with much anticipation and excitement. Unfortunately, the morning of June 25, we had to reclose those doors after learning one of our team members tested positive for Covid-19.

We owe our guests transparency and loyalty. We immediately closed the restaurant and hired a professional sanitation crew recommended by the Texas Restaurant Association (TRA) to perform strong disinfecting and decontamination of our building. Out of an abundance of caution, we also had a professional sanitation crew perform the same deep clean at Fred’s North (@ I-35 and Western Center).

Fred’s North remains open for business at 50% occupancy (in compliance with Governor Abbott’s most recent executive order on June 26, 2020) for dine-in, patio seating, and curbside pickup — which is encouraged.

Following the guidance of our local Health Department and the TRA and pending further developments, we hope to re-open our Currie St. location mid-July, continuing with our diligent sanitation processes, mandatory masks and single-use menus in accordance with recently announced guidelines from Tarrant County officials. Since reopening, we have been checking temperatures and screening employees prior to each shift, and as of this moment, no other team members are exhibiting any symptoms.

This is obviously not a great situation and we hope that our affected team member, all other team members, and our guests, get through this pandemic safely. To help keep our customers and team members safe and informed, here are some answers to the most commonly asked questions from diners:

  • Do I need a reservation?
    • No reservations necessary.
  • What are the current seating arrangements?
    • North – Indoor and patio seating available.
    • Currie St. – *Temporarily* Closed (tentative reopen mid-July)
    • TCU – Permanently Closed
  • What are your hours?
    • North 
      • Monday-Thursday 11-9
      • Friday-Saturday 11-10

  • Can I order online for pickup?
    • Yep, click here start your order. We also have curbside pickup available.
  • Does Fred’s deliver?
    • Fred’s is no longer partnered with DoorDash or any delivery service, but we are exploring local delivery options for the future. Stay tuned!
  • What’s your mask policy?
    • Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley announced a mask mandate beginning 6/26 at 6p.m. requiring face coverings in all Tarrant County businesses. Masks will be required for entry and must be worn until you are seated at your table.. While at your table, mask removal is allowed, but we recommend wearing, but any trips away from the table (to the restroom, to your vehicle, etc.) you will be required to put your mask back on. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided to you for $1. 
  • Is it safe to eat at a restaurant?
    • According to the CDC, “Coronaviruses are generally thought to be spread from person-to-person through respiratory droplets. Currently there is no evidence to support transmission of COVID-19 associated with food.”
  • What parking options are available?
    • North – Self-parking, onsite lot
    • Currie St. – Self-parking with limited on-site spaces. Meters within walking distance with free parking* up to 120 minutes from 10A-5P seven days a week. (*Must display receipt in vehicle. 3-Hour maximum time limit. Paid meter rates apply between 5P-10P and time over 120 minutes.)
  • When will live music return?
    • We hope to restart our live music schedule in the coming months…thank you for your patience!
  • What COVID safety precautions are in place?
      • We are following all local, state, and federal guidelines on COVID safety and will continue to monitor the appropriate accounts for updates as they are made available.
      • Tables are spaced at 6ft distance, with no more than 10 people per table
      • All Fred’s team members required to wear masks at all times
      • Increased sanitation practices
        • Regularly disinfecting commonly touched surfaces and dining areas after each customer
        • Bathrooms cleaned and disinfected every hour
        • Daily health pre-work screenings of employees for fever or symptoms
        • New hand sanitizing stations placed at front entrances and throughout restaurants
        • Frequent hand-washing encouraged
